DNA is a long polymer made from repeating units called nucleotides, each of which is usually symbolized by a single letter: either A, T, G, or C (cytosine, guanine, adenine, and thymine).
Adenine pairs with thymine and guanine pairs with cytosine, forming A-T and G-C base pairs.
The structure of DNA is dynamic along its length, being capable of coiling into tight loops and other shapes.
With DNA in its “relaxed” state, a strand usually circles the axis of the double helix once every 10.4 base pairs, but if the DNA is twisted the strands become more tightly or more loosely wound. We tried to incorporate that in our design of the DNA in between the letters AT & GC in our AT/GC DNA t-shirt. Read more about DNA here.
